a little Maryland, a little Virginia

Friday afternoon we headed down to Annapolis to check out the boats and the cute little town. It reminded me of Balboa soooo much! I was happy to know there is a marina town so close by (maybe 45 min or so with no traffic)

We explored the little town of Annapolis before meeting up with some friends for dinner. I am probably going to put my father to shame, but I had no idea (or forgot) that Annapolis was at one point a temporary capital to the United States.

Colton then proceeded to tell me how Maryland was the first state and of course that makes sense...(I find myself kinda gullible lately because of EVERYTHING being new - so I listen to everything he tells me and I think he takes advantage of that at times with his amazing story telling abilities.)

Sunday after church we headed down to Arlington Cemetery. Colton actually has a Grandfather who is buried there.  It was a very humbling experience to be among all of those headstones.

The grounds were gorgeous and the weather was giving me my first taste of humidity. I think this week it is supposed to be the in high 90's.... I'm ready for my first taste of east coast summer!

Memorial Day Weekend!

A year ago tomorrow, was the first day Colton and I met. He was in town with his "bros" for Memorial Day weekend. His bro Tyler was dating my girlfriend Tori - so the plan was for all the guys to meet up with Tori's girlfriends. We all met up at Pei Wei and that is when I first met Colton. He was sun kissed from a day at the beach - in his speedo, sporting a handle-bar mustache, and full of energy.

The following Monday (Memorial Day - or Bro-morial, as they like to call it) the guys had bought tickets to the Dodgers game and took us girls.

This is the photo we took that night. Later, Colton emailed it to me and that is what started our 5 months of emailing everyday. And now look where we are!!! a lot can happen in a year :)

I'll take the white one

I feel like everything I have purchased or been given in the last few months has been white. Maybe I still have the "wedding white" on my mind.

The latest afternoon adventure was a drive through the gorgeous country side of Maryland and a ferry ride over the river to the Leesburg Outlets in Virginia.

These aren't just any outlets.... these outlets have Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn, Kate Spade, Crate and Barrel, and many more! I was in heaven.

Moments after walking in the door to Restoration... I spotted my dream sofa. All white, slipcovered, down cushions, 108"w and belgium linen....

When I see something I like Colton likes to make this "OMG" impersonation of me... it seems like a combination of a dog panting and a person hyperventilating...trying to get the words out " ohhh myyy gooosssh" But he nailed it. That is exactly how I felt. So we bought the dream sofa and headed home.

A week or so later I got the news that my car is terminally ill. SOO it is not going to pass Maryland state inspection without a minor repair of $7000. I was sad. I love that car - but quickly fell hard for a new one. Colton had recently sold his beautiful HUGE white truck and we were going to need something to last us awhile. SO once again we ended up with something new, beautiful and white...

Lastly.. here is a photo of our BEAUTIFULLY GREEN neighborhood. I cant get over how green and lush everything is here!!

Adrienne Meet Maryland, Maryland meet Adrienne

My first few weeks here have been AWESOME. The first Saturday we were back in town, Colton took me down to Georgetown to welcome me to DC... ( and I think to make a great first impression ).

Lucky for us the french market was going on that weekend and there were tons of people in the streets, merchants on the sidewalks and great weather!

He also spoiled me with a trip to Kate Spade ...to pick out anything I wanted in the store I obessess over. I ended up with this...(!!!)

The following weekend we went to the driving range. Colton is really really really good at golf. Me..not so much. But I am excited to learn! So with his patience he took me to the driving range, our friends Tom and Jenny came too.

They call us Mr. & Mrs. Palmer

Wedding was a SUCCESS!! We did it. We finally did it. After 11 months of dating, amazing dates on the east coast and west coasts, too many plane flights, and way too many countdown calendars ( can I tell you how much I hate countdowns now..?!). It feels so nice to finally be together ALL OF THE TIME!

Wedding was beautiful and everything we wanted. We should have the wedding photos this week (yay!!)

Honeymoon was just what we needed after months of stress. But when it was time to head out to Maryland we were both soo excited to leave Cali and begin our life together!
